The Apostle Paul addressed a similar question in his letter to the Romans, particularly in Romans 6:1-2, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” This passage teaches that those who have been united with Christ in His death and resurrection should not continue living in sin. The grace of God is not a license to sin but a reason to pursue a life of righteousness.
Furthermore, 1 John 1:9 assures us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” While forgiveness is promised to those who confess and turn from their sins, the overall message of the Bible encourages believers to seek a transformation of heart that leads away from sin, motivated by love for God and gratitude for His mercy.
The essence of Christian living is not about seeking how much one can sin and still be forgiven but about growing in holiness and becoming more like Christ. The grace of God empowers believers to overcome sin, not to indulge in it.
