In moments when you find yourself feeling frustration towards others’ understanding, it’s important to remember the wisdom and guidance found in Ephesians 4:29, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” It’s a gentle reminder of the power of our words to build up rather than tear down, to extend grace in the same measure it has been given to us.
Moreover, in the pursuit of knowledge, whether it be of this world or of spiritual matters, remember the words of Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” This encourages us to approach others with humility, recognizing that true understanding begins with reverence for the Lord. We are all on a journey of learning and growth, each at our own pace and in our own time.
Therefore, in conversations, especially those involving complex subjects like science, strive to enlighten and guide with patience and love, reflecting the patience and love that has been shown to us. James 1:19 reminds us, “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” In this way, we can be instruments of His peace and understanding in a world in desperate need of both.
