The Bible does not directly address modern scientific theories such as string theory or the concept of higher dimensions in a physical or mathematical sense. Biblical revelation focuses on God’s relationship with humanity, His creation, moral and spiritual truths, and the redemption offered through Jesus Christ.

However, the Bible does affirm that God is the creator of the universe and everything in it, transcending all of creation, including any dimensions or aspects of reality that humans can or cannot perceive. Colossians 1:16-17 says, “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” This passage suggests that all aspects of the universe, whether seen or unseen, are within God’s sovereign domain.

The Psalmist declares in Psalm 139:7-10, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” These verses poetically affirm God’s omnipresence—His presence in all places and, by implication, beyond the confines of physical dimensions as we understand them.

While the Bible speaks to God’s transcendence and immanence—His beyondness in relation to creation and His presence within it—it does not delve into scientific specifics about how the universe is structured or the nature of its dimensions. Science and faith often address different types of questions: science seeks to explain the how of the universe’s workings, while faith addresses the why, including questions of purpose, meaning, and moral truth.

For those who believe in the God of the Bible, scientific discoveries and theories like string theory can elicit wonder and awe at the complexity and majesty of God’s creation. They may see the pursuit of scientific knowledge as a way to further understand the work of the Creator, without necessarily seeing science as a means to prove or disprove His existence. The relationship between science and faith is seen by many as complementary rather than contradictory, with each providing insights into different aspects of reality.
