The Bible teaches that God’s love and justice are perfect. It is written in Romans 2:14-16, “For when Gentiles who do not have the law by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.”
This passage suggests that God judges people based on the knowledge they have and how they respond to it in their hearts. In Acts 17:26-27, it says, “And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him. Yet He is actually not far from each one of us.”
God’s desire is for all people to seek Him, and He has made Himself known in various ways to every person. The Bible emphasizes that God is just and merciful. It does not explicitly detail the fate of those who have never heard of Jesus, but it affirms God’s fairness and love for all His creation. In 2 Peter 3:9, it declares, “The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
Therefore, it is not for us to say who will end up in hell or heaven, but rather, it is a matter of God’s sovereign and just judgment, always tempered with His mercy and grace.
