The Bible speaks of the soul in various passages, indicating its existence as an integral aspect of human beings. For example, Genesis 2:7 tells us, “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” This passage suggests that the soul is what gives life to the physical body, making it “living.”

Furthermore, Matthew 10:28 advises, “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” This indicates that the soul and the body are distinct, with the soul having an existence beyond physical death.

Thus, according to Scripture, souls do indeed exist as an essential and eternal part of a person, created by God and enduring beyond the earthly life.
