The Bible does not specifically mention screams heard below the Earth’s crust in a literal sense. However, it does speak metaphorically of a place called Hell or Gehenna, described as a place of punishment and separation from God. For example, in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31, Jesus tells of a rich man who lived in luxury but ended up in Hades, where he was in torment. The rich man cries out, “I am in agony in this flame.”
This passage and others like it use vivid imagery to communicate spiritual truths about judgment and the consequences of one’s actions in life. The Bible’s primary focus is on the spiritual realm and the relationship between humanity and the divine, rather than detailed descriptions of physical places beneath the Earth’s surface.
