In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) This statement sets the foundation for understanding God in the Bible. The Scriptures do not delve into the origins of God, as He is portrayed as eternal, without beginning or end. “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” (Psalm 90:2) This perspective reflects God’s nature as the uncaused Cause, the self-existing One who always has been and always will be.
